WE HAVE A VISION!

by: Rose Selahle

One hundred and five Dinkwanyane People participated on 16 July 2019 in a visioning workshop held at the Phiring Tribal Authority to develop with their partners Conservation South Africa, Hoedspruit Hub and the K2C their own vision to be water smart in the context of climate change. The project is funded by the Government of Flanders.

The Dinkwanyane People are custodians of land and resources in the Blyde Catchment area next to the Blyde Reserve and declared their commitment to rangeland management and agro-ecology.

“This was the initiation of our Water Smart project!” Lucius Hlatshwayo said.

The project has just started and have employed a Site Coordinator, Kgotli Rose Selahle and 6x Environmental Monitors. “I have high expectations of the DWS Team”, Ms Shoki Mafogo said. “They are going to help us to make a huge success of this demonstration project in the K2C Biosphere.”
